Becoming is a nine-week class designed to help you achieve clarity of focus in your business life.

It a series of activities and tasks that replicate the process I use to figure out where my business is going, and the Becoming class  itself is the catalyst for my orphan-hugging title. (Video of orphan hugging shot by the dear Haunani Kekuna.)

Because clarity and focus don’t come from just one activity, Becoming uses weekly adventures, daily journaling, worksheets, and real-life tasks to reveal your deepest desires to you.

Becoming is a journey, and the destination is increased clarity in what you want out of your business life.

Your business could absolutely be bigger and bolder and more revenue-generating-y in the coming year – and if that’s what you want, you’ll figure out ways to make it happen during our time together. You could just as easily come to the conclusion that you want your business to be softer, quieter, and more focused on what lights you up – even if that means making less money or getting out of your industry entirely.

No matter what, the first step toward owning your dream business lies in knowing what you want.

Becoming will help you get to that place of knowing. Some of the tasks might seem like, “WTF, Kristen, I don’t understand!!” but I need you to trust that each task is part of the bigger picture. What is just cleaning out the closet to you could be the trigger that makes all the difference in someone else’s journey.

And yes, I like to think of Becoming as a journey. We’re starting wherever we are at this moment, and our destination is increased clarity in what we want out of life. We’re all going there, but our experiences will be very different – just as Haunani, Gwen, and I went on a literal journey to India and came home with very different experiences.

Hey Kristen, can you give me a quick rundown of what Becoming includes and how it works?

Sure!  Becoming is an online program lasting from March 13, 2012, to May 9th, 2012. Very Serious Tasks are delivered in PDF format each week, while other bits of content are delivered throughout our time together.

What’s the other content? Here goes:

– Thoughtful journal prompts for each day of the course.

You’ll have a place to dream and a way to address chronic issues through your writing. If you’re writing about your mother-in-law in every post — ding ding ding! — we’ve identified a chronic issue.

– Adventure activities to get you outside of your comfort zone and saying “Yes!” to spontaneity once a week.

These can be completed with or without partners in crime, depending on how you roll.

– Audio answers to the group’s burning questions.

– All-access photos from the epic orphan-hugging adventure the first Becoming classes funded. From construction to the Chicken Dance, we’ll share our stories and you’ll meet the kids we fell in love with while in India.

Uh, Kristen?! I don’t think I have the time for this!

You probably feel like you don’t have the time right this second because you’re super-duper busy running your business. I know how you feel, and I totally understand. Everyone who signs up for Becoming receives access to the Facebook Becoming community, so you can talk to the other students who are taking the 2012 version of the class in real time.

I’ve reached a place of knowing what I want in the next few years of my business, so I can totally empathize with your feelings as you seek clarity – but I don’t have the ability to say, “I’m right there with you, feeling the same thing.” Your fellow Becoming peeps totally have that ability. They’re also great people to bounce ideas off of and share with during your journey. Best of all, the Becoming community from 2011 is still going strong, so you’ll have access to your Becoming peeps for as long as you wish. (That said – the community is completely optional, so you’re welcome to strike out on your own, solo-style, if you’d like.)

Didn’t you say something about a library, Kristen?

Yup! When 200 Becoming spots have been sold, we’re donating $5,000 to finish the SEAMS Orphanage library in Chennai, India.

Yep, that’s right! When we sell 200 spots, we’ll be providing the money to complete the library Haunani worked to build during our time in India by getting a spot in Becoming. (I was off caring for daycare kiddos, and thus did not get to construct, my friend.)

And if we don’t sell 200 spots, then…no library.  So when you buy a spot, grab a friend and convince her to buy, too!
