DOMINATRIXED: BLOGGING

While business-dominatrixing, I found myself giving this assignment again and again.   Thus, I’ve decided to start a regular feature on the blog to share the most common dominatrixing assignments I dole out.

If you need someone to help you create business goals and then hold you accountable for reaching them, you need a dominatrix. The next round of dominatrixing starts on August 15th.  Details and pricing information here.

Stop reading blogs and stay off of forums for two weeks.

Without fail, each dominatrixee protested.  (Some more fervently than others.)  When the ban was lifted, they noted how free they felt when they weren’t required to pay any attention to Google Reader for fourteen whole days.

In the absence of reading others’ blogs, you must blog twice per week for two weeks.  About anything personal or professional.  With lots of words, with no wordsYour kids, your dog, your photography sessions.  Your adventures in filmYour new Instax. Whatever.  You can even schedule your posts in advance!

Just blog.  Twice a week for the next two weeks.

Edited to add: The irony of telling you to stop reading blogs ON A BLOG is not lost on me. The next dominatrix assignment will hit in two weeks, so you won’t miss anything if you stop reading right this second and disable Google Reader and RSS and subscription e-mails and all that good stuff. ;)

Sometimes Twitter drives me crazy with all its linked goodness and it sends me over the edge to the point where I shut it down for a week or so. It always feels freeing, but at the same time I feel like I might be missing something! Unplugging can be so good but the “catch up” part then takes forever.

    I don’t think I need to point out the irony here….. :)

great post. looking sideways is rarely the way to make progress. i limit my photo blogs that i visit to 2-3. the rest are business blogs. i can learn much more on those than i can by viewing totally rad presets on 17 other photo blogs. :)

Good post. Question, though. Do you mean stay off ALL blogs, or just photo blogs? The reason I ask is because there are some killer blogs out there with great info about running a business, becoming a great leader, etc, and the Brand Camp blog, of course. Are those ok?

    Keep

I’ve been doing this… not so much because you “assigned” it but I just knew I needed to.

    Talk about freedom.

    And increased self confidence.

    And productivity. ;)
